We are continuing our studies of the Gospels and are currently working through Matthew. This week we studied Matthew 4 in depth. We’ve had some amazing and precious discussion together during our Bible study. I am grateful.
We were able to talk about several prophecies this week and how Matthew ties them into his Gospel. Simply fascinating stuff!
History: We continue to talk about Ancient Rome. We are really trying to grasp the world as it was during the time Jesus walked the earth. We finished this book:
City: A Story of Roman Planning and Construction
Geography: We are looking in depth at the areas of Judea and Galilee. We talked alot about the fishing towns on the Sea of Galilee, with Capernum being the largest.
Science this week took the form of fishing at a friend’s house and observing the most beautiful cateripllars in our garden. Boy, can they eat! We watched them devour leaves. I really want to pull out this movie again that we watched last year:
Metamorphosis: The Beauty and Design of Butterflies![]()

We continue using Spelling Wisdom for my older boys. Everyone is doing Math U See for their grade level.
As a family we are reading Prince Caspian (The Chronicles of Narnia)
aloud and just finished Aesop’s Fables for Children.
While out and about in the car, we listened to this AMAZING audio drama this week and LOVED it.
The Magician’s Nephew (Radio Theatre)
We also watched The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
for family movie night. My kids love the Narnia series.
My 7th grader is reading Bronze Bow, Pollyanna, and Beautiful Girlhood. My son is reading Galen and the Gateway to Medicine. My younger son is reading Magic Tree House.
My preschooler is hanging out with us while we work, practicing his letters, and just having fun being four!
