Bible-Based All in One Homeschool Curriculum

Over the years we have tried so many different approaches to homeschooling. We have been somewhat eclectic and tried many different styles. One style that we haven’t used much is a traditional textbook approach. However, I am thrilled to share with you Lifepack from AOP Publishing today.

Next year my youngest will be in fourth grade and while we have always used a more Charlotte Mason approach, if anyone would do well with a traditional curriculum it will be him. He seems to thrive with workbooks. So we are giving it a try for geography from LIFEPAC!

What I love about this curriculum is that while traditional, you can choose just the subjects you need. Or if you prefer, you can grab the entire set and have everything DONE for you!

LIFEPAC encourages critical thinking skills that promote and strengthen a student’s faith in Christ. Using the King James Version and biblical content you can be assured that it develops a Christian worldview. That is something very important to me and I know for many of you out there! The lessons are flexible and are available for K-12.

Affordably priced, LIFEPAC is a homeschool curriculum at a fraction of the price of regular textbooks and workbooks. In addition, you can purchase only what you need, making it quite flexible for any budget.

Practical and Portable

The nice thing about LIFEPAC is that you can take it anywhere without having to lug around a ton of books. We received the Geography 4th grade set and there are multiple workbooks that make the complete set. So at any one time, we can grab the workbook we are in and take it on the go! No lugging a giant textbook around.

Inside the Curriculum

Each workbook is designed with mastery learning in mind, meaning you don’t move on until the concept is mastered. That is something  I have always appreciated in our homeschool. There is a schedule, quizzes, assignments, etc. all laid out for the student. It is very teacher friendly. LIFEPAC is not overwhelming and makes the whole process simple.

Pilgrim’s Progress All-in-One Curriculum from Answers in Genesis

Pilgrim’s Progress All-in-One Curriculum from Answers in Genesis

*Disclaimer: I was given this product for an honest review. In no way has that affected my review. All of the opinions are mine. This post may also include affiliate links.

I am so thrilled about this review! Our family LOVES, LOVES, LOVES Pilgrim’s Progress. We have read through the Little Pilgrim’s Progress edition a few times, and we adore the story. It is such a beautiful picture of the journey we are all on in our Christian walk. This is a classic and MUST read for all families.

Well, when given the opportunity to review Answers in Genesis’s Pilgrim’s Progress Pack, I could not wait! I jumped at the chance. Not only was this the story we have loved, but now we could dig in much more with this full curriculum. It is also not the “little” version we had previously been exposed to, so it was taking it a step further for us as well.

The Pilgrims’ Progress Pack came with a few pieces:

  • The Audiobook
  • The All-In-One Curriculum
  • The Pilgrim’s Progress, Illustrated and Annotated

Audiobooks and All-in-One Curriculum

I was delighted to have the CD’s to listen to perhaps on a car ride or just when working around the house. This is a fully dramatized version and is over 5 hours long!

The All-in-One Curriculum is brilliant. It has lessons included that can be used in homeschool, family devotions,  Sunday School, or personal or group study. It also comes with a CD that has all of the student pages that are reproducible. LOVE that. Each chapter is followed by a series of these pages to encourage deepr thinking. We have been doing these together as a family, but they can certainly be given as school assignments.

There is also a section in the beginning for the Instructor that provides lessons for each chapter with History, Science and Language Arts. Truly amazing. We haven’t been using all of it, but have tailored it to suit this time in our homeschool, and I love that we can do that. Yet, with younger children, I know somewhere down the line we will pull this out again and perhaps at that time, use all of it.

One of the unique and wonderful things about this set is the annotations in each chapter. Throughout the story there are Scripture references in the margin. We have been looking them up as we read, and it has been exciting to see how the story corresponds directly with Scripture. We read through the story with Bibles in hand 🙂

Historical Background Author’s Apology

Our very first time using the curriculum we read through the beginning section which provided historical background about John Bunyan and the church at that time in history. We learned so much in that lesson alone. It was fascinating and also provides a backdrop for the story and for where Bunyan was on his own spiritual journey at the time of writing the story. I love how church history and literature intersect here.

I am so blessed to have this curriculum and I know your family will be too. It is truly a delight to open this up each afternoon. We have been involved in some deep discussions that the digging deeper sections have prompted. I am so grateful for these times with my children. And to make it even better, not only are we learning Scriptural truths each day, we are learning new vocabulary words, language arts lessons, and more.

This curriculum is worth every penny. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to tie the biblical truths into their other subjects.

Our Bible Based Homeschool Plans 2014-2015

Planning your homeschool year?

I am in full swing of planning our new year. As always, I tweak this every year depending on where we are at…each stage of life is different! This is the first year I will “officially” be homeschooling all four of my children, as I now have an “official” kindergartner! I also have an 8th grader, which means we have an eye on the next few years…

Here is what we have so far:

Bible: Our study will consist of Acts and Romans. We will tie this into our history studies as well. We will go through the book of Acts and read commentaries, listen to sermons, etc. as we go.

I am also planning on having the older kids write out a book of the Bible at a time into a notebook. We will probably start with Acts since that is what we are studying.

History: Mystery of History Volume 2: The Early Church and Middle Ages. I am SO SO very excited about this. I have been reading through it and it looks fantastic. It looks so perfect for our family. The activities are right up our alley. I can not wait to start! 🙂

Geography: We will study the geography of the lands that we are reading about in Acts and Mystery of History, but I also want to once a week review countries, continents, oceans, and states and capitals with my olders, and start teaching them to the kindergartner. I don’t have anything formal for this, except books, maps, etc.

Science: Apologia. The younger children will be finishing Exploring Creation with Physics and Chemistry. We started last year and took a slow pace. The kindergartner will listen in, and he will also explore his world outdoors- science will be informal for him.

My 8th grader will do Apologia’s Physical Science for middle school.

Foreign Language: my 8th grader will be using Middlebury Interactive Foreign Language Program online. I will be sharing a review in September, so be sure to watch for it 🙂

Language Arts: IEW for the 8th grader- another review coming on this in the fall 🙂 My younger boys will be doing Language Lessons from Queen Homeschool.

The kindergartner will be doing Explode the Code and learning to read.

Penmanship and SpellingPrint to Cursive Proverbs Copywork from Simply Charlotte Mason for my 4th and 6th grader. They will also continue with Spelling Wisdom from Simply Charlotte Mason.

Math: Math U See for all. (Alpha, Delta, Zeta, and Algebra)

Logic: The Fallacy Detective for 8th grader and 6th grader

Literature: Family Read Alouds and Individual Reading: various, I am working on book lists.

Robotics team- 4th and 6th grader

Photography class – 8th grader

Public Speaking with Institute For Cultural Communicators (all)

Fine Arts- Lots of music, dance, drama, and computer art classes at a local fine arts program for all grades.

Right now my book Simply Homeschool 2nd edition is available in paperback as well as Kindle!
