Reading Through the Entire Bible as a Family: 1 Kings
I haven’t posted an update on our family reading in a few weeks, but I am finally able to update today. We have moved into 1 Kings and are learning about the wisdom of Solomon and his reign as king.
Last night we were in Chapter 4 and what we took away from that chapter most of all was Solomon’s organization. If Solomon, who was the wisest man to live, was a man of organization, then that is something we need to take note of. Chapter 4 discusses how he led the people and the way he organized his men. Organization was important to him as a leader.
I was not a naturally organized person growing up, and I have had to work at it. I have come to realize though just how important organization is as a work-at-home family and homeschooling mom. I want my house to run efficiently, but reading this made me realize, that so does God. He desires order and organization.
Nowadays there are so many things out there telling us how to be organized and how to be orderly, but in the end, I don’t think it needs to be complicated. If we are following God, that is the most effective way to keep order, because we will naturally become more like Him as we grow closer to Him in our daily walk. I am choosing not to invest in complicated organization systems, but to remember that God desires order and organization and that is enough motivation for me.

Yes! There is peace in order as long as we get our worth from God and don’t start to let our orderly home climb in importance and become an idol of sorts. Im a Martha-type naturally and am learning to push it back and turn to God when things start to pile up on me.
