Well, we zipped through Ruth since it was only four chapters and now we are in 1 Samuel. We continue to read different commentaries with our readings each night–sometimes from our Life Application Study Bible and other times from online sources. I really appreciate reading through commentaries, even if it slows us down on our readings (after all, we are not trying to complete reading through the Bible in a certain amount of time). We are just digesting each chapter at our own pace.
This adventure of reading through the Bible as a family is truly a blessing. I am very prone to starting something and not following through, so I am grateful that this has stuck. It has become so ingrained in our family now that after dinner we know it is our time to dig in the Word. There have been very few times where we had to miss it, and that was merely because we weren’t home for the evening, etc.
God is good. When we follow His leading in obedience, He makes all things possible and shows us things we didn’t even know we were looking for. I am so grateful that one day my kids can look back and say, “We read through the entire Bible together as a family.”
My takeaway from reading through Ruth was just how much Naomi followed God even during difficult circumstances. It is something I will cling to– that God is able to redeem every situation for good. Look how He redeemed that situation, by ultimately providing our redeemer through Naomi’s lineage.
Praise the Lord that His plans will always prevail and He will redeem all for His good.
