Reading Through the Entire Bible as a Family: 2 Chronicles 32-33

Bible study

It’s been awhile since I wrote about our journey of reading through the entire Bible as a family. We have still been reading every night, but I just haven’t posted. So today I am sharing where we are at in our reading.

Last night was 2 Chronicles 32-33. I really loved so much of chapter 32.

Hezzechiah is preparing to battle and Sennacherib is coming against his people. Hezekiah says to his men in verses 7-8,

“Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him:

With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God to help us, and to fight our battles.”

Oh, how I love this. No flesh can beat the Lord! Then after a long out lash against our God (which really reminded me of our culture today- blaspheming God and lying about who He is), and Sennacherib is trying to convince the men that God is not on their side and Hezekiah is not for them, Hezekiah responds by PRAYING before any action is taken.

20 And for this cause Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven.

21 And the Lord sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the house of his god, they that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with the sword.

22 Thus the Lord saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all other, and guided them on every side.

FIRST, Hezekiah prays. Then the Lord responds. And the Lord is faithful to His earlier promise that He will fight this battle. And win.

May this encourage you today in whatever battle you are in. Pray. Trust. And let the Lord equip you to fight.
