I really enjoy our afternoon reading time. I read aloud to the kids after lunch and it is always a cherished time. Here are some of our all time favorites from the past few years that we have all enjoyed.

Mountain Born

This is one of my all time favorite read alouds. It is a beautiful story and I love the themes. Don’t miss this one!

Little Pilgrim’s Progress: From John Bunyan’s Classic

When we finished this book, we were all so sad it was over! This allegory is classic and we had some truly meaningful discussions each time we read this book. A must read.

Little House Series

We love this series- of course, because I am a Little House on the Prairie girl at heart 😉 Ah, the simple days…so much to be learned from that time period. We also love the TV series, and have gone through all the seasons!

The Chronicles of Narnia

We love this series and have also enjoyed listening to these as audio dramas.

Hinds’ Feet on High Places: Delightfully Illustrated and Arranged for Children

This is another beautiful allegory for all ages to enjoy. This edition comes with questions specifically for children to discuss.

George Muller: The Guardian of Bristol’s Orphans (Christian Heroes: Then & Now)

Our all time favorite biography of a man with so much faith, you can’t help but be inspired. Truly one of our very favorites.

The Hedge of Thorns (Rare Collector’s Series) or any Lamplighter books

We love many of these high quality and classic stories that have been republished. They have lovely lessons weaved throughout.

What are your favorite read alouds? I’d love to add to my list!
