See The Light

I am pleased to be able to highlight a company in a special post every so often here at Bible Based Homeschooling. I am choosing to highlight companies that I feel are high caliber and can truly benefit you in your homeschool.

Today’s company is See the Light. This an amazing art curriculum that is Bible based. I am beyond excited to share this with you!

From the See The Light site:

See The Light

With a love for the Lord Jesus Christ, a heart for children, and a passion for ministry, Dave and Pat Holt bring you the SEE THE LIGHTteam:
ARTISTS with specialties that include teaching a large variety of techniques, art history, chalk artistry, performance art, gospel chalk art (with black light), crafts, creative lettering, and more;
MUSICIANS whose talents include songwriting, musical performance, arranging, and producing. The SEE THE LIGHT team is dedicated to bringing scripture and biblical principles to viewers in a fresh, engaging way. . . and promising to teach some exciting art skills along the way!

I was given The Crossmaker set for the purpose of this review, and we were so impressed. There is a beautiful story of Jesus’ death and resurrection that is illustrated with drawings. All of my kids were engaged and enthralled with this story. Afterwards, we started on the art lessons.

HEAR See The Light chalk artist Gloria Kohlmann’s com- mentary as you watch the Easter scene being created.

I haven’t had my children this excited about a product in our school in a very long time. After completing the first lesson, they begged to work on the next. My husband, who is an artist, came home that evening and said to the children, “YOU did these?” He was also very impressed with their work.

See the Light combines art, technique, and relates back to God. I love how the artist even relates what life was like in Bible times during some of the lessons. It is an amazing combination. My kids have a whole new appreciation for art and continue to use the techniques they learned to make even more art since we have finished the lessons.

I have the opportunity to now offer you a chance to win The Crossmaker from See The LIght. It is the PERFECT addition to your homeschool as we prepare for Easter. Don’t miss this great opportunity!

  1. Thank you for a chance to win!!

  2. We do not follow any structure for Art in our homeschooling. It’s very free right now, but would love to win this for my daughter! I think she would love it!

  3. Currently groping for an art resource! Would love to try this one out.

  4. We don’t do art. Not because we don’t want to but because I don’t know what I am doing and don’t have anything to guide me. My oldest loves to draw and I would love to encourage that.

  5. We are using ARTistic Pursuits right now.

  6. I let my daughter just listen to the preview, she said Momma, I so want to do this….Thank you for a chance to win!

  7. I think. my girls would love this.

  8. This is a subject my kids love but all too often gets dropped from the schedule when time gets tight. Having something like this to follow would definitely help.

  9. Thanks for the chance to win. :)

  10. Unfortunately, we do not do art. From time to time…especially on holidays, we might do a craft…and sometimes the kids do crafts with their weekly co-op…but for the most part, we don’t do art…I don’t feel “artistic,” and therefore have put art on the back-burner. :( I would like to change that. I think this would be a good step in the right direction.

  11. Thank you for the chance to win. We are strugglinwith art looking for a program to get us started.

  12. Would love to win this. My daughter loves to draw, but we aren’t using any type of curriculum right now.

  13. Right now I just have a preschooler (and younger) so we do a lot of coloring and cut/paste and painting for art.

  14. My son loves Art and I love contest. And I love Bible Based Homeschooling

  15. This would be great for our new homeschool curriculum next year!

  16. Would love to use this with my kids! Looks fun!

  17. Currently, we are going through the book, Teaching Art to Children…but honestly it often gets skipped in favor of other subjects as my kids don’t love it. I’d love to have an art curriculum that would get them excited about art and their Savior!! : )

  18. Thanks for the giveaway! We do not follow anything formal for art. I google and/or pinterest fun projects to do with my kindergartener. Usually based on holidays/times of the year or something we are reading about. See the Light sounds like fun!

  19. I love art and have been wanting to get an art curriculum for my kids. This one looks awesome and I would love to try it out.

  20. What a neat way to incorporate all of the Easter season into the curriculum! We would love to try this out! Thanks for the give-away.

  21. We currently only do things on the whim. Whatever my children come up with, I let them do for art. This would be WONDERFUL!

  22. Art is most definately child led at thiss point. And the art would be more in the form of craft projects.

  23. We really don’t do art. But the kids sometimes do lapbooks.

  24. We’ve had various lessons in art, but my daughters prefer to draw more than anything. The Crossmaker would be perfect for us, as we are a Bible based homeschool. Thank you for the opportunity to win this wonderful curriculum.

  25. Since our boys are younger we use many things for art. Simple clay, models, color-books, drawing projects and we also have the first See The Light Disc and love it. My youngest and most artistic boy would have me own them all if he had the choice. :) We probably will over time.

  26. I ran across this program a few months ago and have been drueling ever since! Thank you for the opportunity!

  27. Thanks for the giveaway!

  28. We use See the Light curriculum with Pat Knepley! This would be a great addition!

  29. Our “art” is mostly crafts. I really have not done much with anything else. Good thing they’re still young!

  30. We do various projects and read art books from the library

  31. I’ve been looking at See the Light curriculum and thought it looked wonderful. It would be great to win it. Thanks for the opportunity!

  32. We haven’t done very much formal art instruction. Mainly just crafts, drawing that has to do with what we are learning at the time. This looks great! :)

  33. We are currently looking for an art study. This looks fascinating!

  34. This would be great to win. Thanks for the contest.

  35. We have used See the Light materials before in our homeschool and are enjoy them very much! My oldest daughter (teen) just puts the DVD’s in and gets to work. My younger, artsy girls, watch the lessons as well. Perfect for use in homes (like mine) where Mom can’t draw anything beyond a stick- figure. I just visited the STL website the other day and saw this Crossmaker set. Looks amazing!

  36. I’ve tried a variety of things suggested in curriculum I’ve gone through. I had tried CC (Classical Coversations), but we moved on to MFW due to it’s affordability and ease of implementation. I LOVE MFW, but trying to present art has been an issue. Recently, I started tossing out the art kits you can find about, such as the ones Rose Art makes (Sand Art, next Style:Decorating a color for your pet etc)I like that these have every thing you need and is something beyond the a coloring book. I’d love something that covers a more in-depth look at the arts that isn’t out of my budget. I’d love to check out this bible based one and see if it meets our families need.

  37. This sounds wonderful!! I have been looking for something different for our Art curriculum, and I think this is it!!

  38. My kids are currently taking art classes at our homeschool enrichment program. I have usually outsourced art instruction, but would love to try out something at home!

  39. Right now we’ve done a See the Light DVD. The kids keep using those materials we bought to create other projects.

  40. This looks so wonderful! I really lack in the art department and this stays on course with what we want to reflect to our children. Thank you for the opportunity to win this.

  41. I have been looking for art instruction for my artistically inclined child. We would love to try this out!

  42. This wounds wonderful. I’m sure that my two youngest would love this. Thank you for offering.

  43. We have the first DVD for See the Light, we draw in our journals for science, and the kids pull paper out and draw for pretty much no reason other than they enjoy it!

  44. I bought an art curriculum a couple years ago but after getting it realized there was way more time required than i had and also didn’t feel qualified to do. We currently are not following a set art curriculum but i would like to be doing more art with the kids. This product looks like it would be a good one for multiple ages as well as not require a lot of time and planning. Thanks for the chance to win!
