I am beyond thrilled to introduce to you an amazing resource for teaching art at home!
We started using Home Art Studio a few weeks ago and couldn’t be more pleased. I chose the 5th-grade level for my 10-year old son to use and he loves it.
This is my usually challenging child who often complains about school work. Yet, this is the one thing he literally begs to do, daily!
Home Art Studio is a DVD lesson with accompanying supplies for each project. For the 5th-grade level, the theme is nautical so each lesson has something to do with the sea. So far we have made a lighthouse drawing, nautical flags, an under the seascape, a rubber stamp killer whale print, a ship’s steering wheel using a compass, and a few others.
My son absolutely loves the DVD lessons. He really enjoys Ms. Volin, the teacher. She is pleasant to watch and thorough in her lessons. They are engaging and my son is highly motivated to complete each one. He listens to each instruction diligently and then gets to work on his own project. I couldn’t be more pleased!
He has even been asking to do the lessons at night (not during school!) It’s a beautiful thing to watch something really excite a child to learn and Home Art Studio has done that. The only con is that he finished all of the lessons and wishes there were more!
I think that the cost for Home Art Studio is quite reasonable. It is $29.99 for the DVD lessons and if you need the additional art supplies, there is a link on the site that will help you find what you need. Or you can purchase just the things you need on your own, if you have some of the things needed at home already. You can purchase the DVDs according to grade level up to grade 5.
I truly am pleased with this curriculum and only wish I had it sooner. He can’t get enough and I am grateful that we have found Home Art Studio to teach art at home.
